CLE Commission Sanctions 185 Attorneys for Noncompliance

The Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education today issued sanctions for 185 attorneys who failed to comply with their CLE requirements.

Attorneys are required to complete at least 24 CLE hours every two years while judges must obtain at least 40 hours.

Ohio’s attorneys are split into two groups according to their surnames for reporting purposes, with one group required to earn the requisite hours by the end of every even-numbered year and the other by the end of every odd-numbered year. The group sanctioned today represents attorneys with last names beginning with the letters A through L. They were required to come into compliance on or before Dec. 31, 2015.

All of the sanctioned attorneys will be required to complete the required CLE and pay a sanction and/or a reinstatement fee ranging from $75 to $300, depending on the degree of noncompliance.
