The Court approved $2.5 million in grants last year for 109 technology projects at courts in 61 counties.

The deadline for Ohio courts to apply for grant money through the Ohio Supreme Court’s technology initiative is about a month away.

The funding is available to any Ohio appeals, common pleas, municipal, or county court for projects that would remove barriers to efficient and effective administration of justice.

Grant funds can be used to buy new or upgraded systems, hardware, or equipment for projects such as:

  • Connection to the Ohio Courts Network
  • Cameras in the courtroom to allow for remote video viewing by the public
  • Online payment system for court costs and fines
  • Self-service kiosks for pro se litigants.

Applications will be accepted electronically through March 15, 2016. Review of applications and selection will begin March 16. The application form and other information is available on the Supreme Court’s website. Questions may be emailed to Grant Administrator Nida Reid-Williamson.
