Governor Appoints Colaluca to Cuyahoga County Court
A part-time mayor’s court magistrate will become the newest judge on the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court on January 7 after her appointment today by Gov. John R. Kasich.
Janet R. Colaluca fills the vacancy left by former Judge Kathleen O’Malley who died in October. Colaluca will need to win in the November 2014 general election to fulfill the remaining years on the unexpired term that ends January 12, 2017.
Colaluca serves as one of four magistrates for the Village of Bratenahl Mayor’s Court. She earned her law degree from the Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1991.
According to Article IV, Section 13 of the Ohio Constitution, the governor has sole authority to fill all judicial vacancies in the state.
