Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger will be honored at the University of Toledo College of Law Alumni Affiliate Awards Reception on September 8 where she will receive the 2012 Distinguished Alumna Award.
In 1968, Justice Lanzinger earned her B.Ed. magna cum laude from the University of Toledo with a dual major in elementary education and English. She later received her J.D. cum laude in 1977 at the University of Toledo College of Law as valedictorian of her class.
Over the last 27 years Justice Lanzinger has served at all levels of the state judiciary. She has sat on the state’s highest court since 2005.
“Being recognized by the University of Toledo College of Law alumni is very special,” Justice Lanzinger said. “As a law student, as a law professor for eighteen years, and as a judge for over a quarter-century, I recognize how important the College of Law’s program of study has been to my entire legal career. It provided me with a firm foundation in the profession. I am exceptionally honored and grateful to be named this year’s Distinguished Alumna.”
The University of Toledo College of Law will also be honoring Ronald C. Brown with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, Rabbi Alan M. Sokobin with the Commitment Award, Major Michael R. Rentz with the Outstanding New Exemplar Award, Professors Rebecca E. Zietlow and Charles W. Fornoff with the Outstanding Faculty Member Award, and Professor Lee J. Strand with the Eastman & Smith, Ltd. Faculty Achievement.
