Governor Appoints Baldwin and Schroeder to Judgeships

Gov. John Kasich on Friday appointed a sitting judge to another court and a city law director to the bench.
Licking County Domestic Relations Court Judge Craig R. Baldwin will replace retired Judge Julie A. Edwards on the Fifth District Court of Appeals. David A. Schroeder will replace retired Judge Richard L. Stevens on the Ashtabula County Court Western District. Each will need to run in the November 2014 election to fulfill the remaining years on the unexpired terms that end February 9, 2017 and December 31, 2016, respectively.
Baldwin received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio University and earned his law degree from Capital University Law School. He is a member of the Newark-Heath Rotary and a board member of the Licking County YMCA and Licking County Memorial Hospital.
Schroeder received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mercyhurst College and earned his law degree from Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Since 2010, he has served as Conneaut’s law director.
