Governor Appoints Judge Shriver to Clermont County Probate/Juvenile Court

On July 1, Clermont County Municipal Court Judge James A. Shriver will leave a court where he’s served for 18 years for a different bench after his appointment today by Gov. John R. Kasich to the Clermont County Probate/Juvenile Court.
He replaces former Judge Stephanie Wyler, who retired in December.
Judge Shriver must run in the November 2014 general election to serve a full six-year term on the probate/juvenile court, which begins February 9, 2015.
Judge Shriver started Ohio’s first DUI Court. He serves as chair of the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Specialized Dockets and as an ex-officio member of the Commission on the Rules of Practice and Procedure. He’s also a past president of the Association of Municipal/County Judges of Ohio.
Judge Shriver received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and earned his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
He’s a member of the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, where he has served on the Administrative Council and Building Study Committee since 2012. He is actively involved in the Union Township Kiwanis and the Clermont County Special Olympics, and was the recipient of the Clifford Skeen Award for Excellence in Community Corrections in 2010.
