Governor John Kasich today appointed former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Joan Synenberg to the same court. Synenberg replaces Eileen T. Gallagher, who was elected to the Eighth District Court of Appeals in November.

Judge Synenberg will need to run in November 2014 in order to retain the seat and serve out the remainder of the unexpired term ending January 11, 2017. Judge Synenberg lost her seat on the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in the November election to Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams.

Prior to serving on the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court since 2007, Judge Synenberg served as a Cleveland Municipal Court judge from 2005 to 2007. She earned her law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
