Akron Municipal Court Vacancy Filled

Gov. John Kasich appointed an Akron attorney to fill a judicial vacancy on the Akron Municipal Court.

David G. Lombardi will begin serving as the municipal court judge on April 1. He must win in November’s general election to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Jan. 1, 2020. Lombardi’s replacing Judge Julie A. Schafer, who was elected to the Ninth District Court of Appeals in November.

Lombardi received his bachelor’s degree from Miami University and his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law. Lombardi was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio on Nov. 6, 1989.

Prior to his appointment, Lombardi worked in private practice and served as a judicial attorney with the Summit County Common Pleas Court. He’s currently a board member on the Summit County Law Library Association.
