Governor Fills Summit County Common Pleas Court Vacancy
Scot A. Stevenson will become a judge on the Summit County Common Pleas Court on June 15 after his appointment by Gov. John R. Kasich on June 10 to fill a vacancy.
Stevenson must win in the Nov. 8 general election to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends April 30, 2021. Stevenson replaces Judge Thomas M. Parker, who resigned to become a magistrate judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Stevenson received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Akron. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio on Nov. 9, 1992. Stevenson has his own practice and has served as a law director for Twinsburg Township since 2011.
Stevenson is a member of the Summit County Facility Review Board, Akron Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and the Barberton Area Salvation Army Advisory Board. He also is a Barberton Public Library trustee and Barberton Civil Service commissioner.
