Judge Scott R. Altenburger

Gov. John Kasich recently appointed magistrate Scott R. Altenburger to serve as a judge on the Miami County Probate/Juvenile Court. His term began Nov. 26, 2018, replacing Judge W. McGregor “Greg” Dixon Jr., who retired.

Judge Altenburger won the Nov. 6 election for the unexpired term ending Feb. 8, 2021. He must win the November 2020 election for the full term beginning Feb. 9, 2021.

Judge Altenburger was the chief magistrate for the Miami County Court of Common Pleas and was previously a training mediator for the Ohio Supreme Court.

He received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Toledo.

He’s a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Miami County Bar Association, and the Ohio Association of Magistrates.  In addition, he is an instructor at Edison State Community College, teaching family law and legal research and writing.
