Gov. John R. Kasich recently appointed two judges to fill empty seats left open after the November 2018 election.
He appointed Stephanie Mingo to serve as a judge on the Franklin County Municipal Court in the environmental division. She is replacing Judge Daniel R. Hawkins, who was elected to the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
“I’m humbled and it’s such an honor,” Judge-elect Mingo said. “I’m filling big shoes here. Judge Dan Hawkins is a wonderful judge in environmental court.”
She will assume office on Jan. 10, 2019, and must run in the November 2019 election to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 7, 2022. Prior to her appointment, Mingo was an assistant prosecuting attorney for Franklin County. She was also a compliance specialist for InHealth Mutual and assistant chief legal counsel for the Ohio auditor of state. She received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and law degree from Capital University.
Gov. Kasich also appointed Aram M. Ohanian to serve as a judge on the Perrysburg Municipal Court. He is replacing Judge Mary “Molly” L. Mack, who was elected to the Wood County Court of Common Pleas.
“I’m honored and humbled to get this appointment, and I’m excited for the challenges ahead,” Ohanian said.
He will assume office on Jan. 2, 2019, for the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2019. He must run in the November 2019 election to retain the seat for the full term commencing Jan 1, 2020.
Prior to the appointment, he served as an assistant Wood County prosecutor, assistant law director for the city of Fostoria, and Wood County public defender.
Ohanian received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and law degree from the University of Toledo.
