The recently redesigned Ohio Court of Claims website has been voted one of the top 10 court websites in the country. The award was presented by the National Association for Court Management (NACM) during its annual conference in Louisville, Ky., last month.

A six-member panel made up of court officers judged websites on access to public records, ease of navigation, use of multimedia, and interactive capabilities.

“It’s gratifying that folks who work in court management and look at court websites daily – and we think can recognize a good one when they see it – think ours is one of the best. So we’re very proud of that,” Court of Claims Clerk of the Court Mark Reed said of the honor.

The Court of Claims website features a subscription service to follow a case and receive email notification when there’s activity in the case. The new design is meant to be more user-friendly to the public.

“We wanted to have a website that could be understood by not just a lawyer in Cleveland or Cincinnati, but a truck driver in Lima or a beautician in Marietta, and we think we’ve accomplished that,” Reed said.

The Summit County Clerk of Courts was also named in the top 10 court websites.

NACM, based in Williamsburg, Va., at the National Center for State Courts, is the largest organization of court management professionals in the world with more than 1,700 members in the United States and several other countries.
