New Lawyers Will Be Sworn in on Monday
Nearly 200 new lawyers will walk across the stage May 7 to receive their law certificates and be admitted to practice law in Ohio during a special Supreme Court session at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus.
Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor will administer the oath of office to applicants who were successful on their February Ohio bar examination and who have satisfied all of the Supreme Court’s other requirements for admission. About 52 percent of those who sat for the February exam received a passing score. Sixty-seven percent of the first-time test takers passed.
Of 374 applicants who sat for the exam, 195 received passing scores. Ninety-nine first-time test takers passed, as well.

Justice Mary DeGenaro will give the keynote speech during the bar admissions ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m.
The ceremony will be streamed live on the Supreme Court’s website at sc.ohio.gov.
