Hundreds Await Results after Taking Ohio Bar Exam This Week
More than 360 aspiring attorneys were in Wilmington this week to take the February 2018 Ohio bar examination, administered by the Ohio Supreme Court. The three-day exam began Feb. 27.
The Supreme Court administers the bar exam and regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, registration of current attorneys, and oversight of continuing-legal-education requirements, known as CLE. The Supreme Court also addresses attorney discipline in cases of misconduct.
A total of 430 applicants from 49 Ohio counties, 14 states, and the District of Columbia applied to take the February bar exam.
Results from the February exam will be announced April 27. Those who pass the exam and meet all other requirements for admission to the practice of law in Ohio will be sworn in on May 7 during a special session of the Ohio Supreme Court at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown Columbus.
The Supreme Court administers two bar exams each year. The next Ohio bar exam will be July 24-26, in Wilmington. April 2 is the application deadline to take the July 2018 exam.
