Registration is now open for a statewide conference that brings national experts to the center stage to highlight the importance of dispute resolution in solving legal disputes.
“Civility and Solutions: Dispute Resolution for Today’s Courts”- March 10, 2020- will be hosted by the Ohio Supreme Court’s Commission on Dispute Resolution and Dispute Resolution Section.
The one-day event will be held at Ohio State University.
Sessions will include:
- Tailoring dispute resolution to meet the challenges of catastrophes, including 9/11, the Virginia Tech mass shooting, and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico
- Court and community partnerships in the opioid crisis
- Trauma
- Neutral evaluation
- Mediator techniques.
Last year, a former district court judge and U.S. attorney who was appointed to mediate a settlement between the NFL and retired players over alleged concussion-related injuries was the keynote speaker.
Hundreds of attendees heard from prominent panelists such as Nancy Hardin Rogers, professor emeritus and former dean of Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and former Ohio attorney general.
The conference is open to judges, magistrates, court administrators, attorneys, dispute resolution professionals, mental health professionals, educators, trainers, and other stakeholders.
