The Ohio Supreme Court today released results from the February 2019 Ohio Bar Examination. Of the 378 aspiring lawyers who sat for the exam, 200 (52.9 percent) passed. Out of 165 first-time test takers, 66 percent received passing scores.
The exam was administered at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington Feb. 26-28.
The successful applicants who meet all other admission requirements will be sworn in during a special session of the Supreme Court on Monday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in Columbus.
New lawyers and their guests are invited to visit the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center immediately following the ceremony. The Ohio State Bar Association will be hosting a reception in the Grand Concourse, and the Court’s Office of Attorney Services will help new lawyers complete their attorney registrations and discuss the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program.
The bar exam is administered twice a year by the Court, which regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, the biennial registration of current attorneys, attorney discipline in cases of misconduct, and the administration of continuing legal education.
The July bar examination will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on July 30-Aug. 1.
