Court Accepting Comments on Expungement and Sealing Proposal

The Ohio Supreme Court will accept public comments on proposed amendments that would create standard forms for the sealing or expungement of court records.

The proposed amendments to the Rules of Superintendence would create standard forms that could be used by individuals and courts for every instance-under Ohio law or Supreme Court rules-in which a court record can be sealed, expunged, or restricted from public access.

Standard forms would have to be accepted for filing by all courts. Local courts could create their own forms provided they are substantially similar to the standard forms created by the amendment.
