Gov. Mike DeWine today appointed two judges to fill empty seats on county common pleas courts.
He appointed Elizabeth “Libby” Callan to serve as a judge on the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. She replaces Judge Robert C. Winkler, who was elected to the First District Court of Appeals.
Callan will assume office on a date to be determined and will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Feb. 8, 2021. She currently is a principal at Jackson Lewis in Cincinnati and also was an assistant prosecutor with the Ross County prosecutor’s office.
Callan received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and her law degree from the University of Miami in Florida.
Gov. DeWine also appointed William S. McKinley to serve as a judge on the Richland County Court of Common Pleas. McKinley replaces Judge Ronald D. Spon, who retires March 31.
McKinley currently is a magistrate for the Richland County Domestic and Juvenile Court. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and his law degree from Regent University in Virginia. He will assume office April 2 and must win in the November 2020 general election to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Jan. 2, 2023.
