Pro Hac Vice Renewal/Registration Compliance Due January 31
The Ohio Supreme Court’s Office of Attorney Services today reminded out-of-state attorneys that they have until January 31 to file their 2013 renewal application and pay a $100 registration fee to comply with the Supreme Court’s pro hac vice rule.
Pro hac vice is a special designation allowing qualified attorneys licensed in other jurisdictions to practice under limited circumstances in Ohio.
Under the rule, pro hac vice attorneys must register and pay the fee annually. They are also limited to appearing in three cases in a calendar year.
The Office of Attorney Services sent reminder emails in December to all attorneys who were issued a pro hac vice certificate of registration in 2012.
Out-of-state attorneys who do not pay the required renewal fee and file a new registration will be excluded from the practice of law in Ohio.
