Supreme Court Approves Amendments to the Rules of Practice to Permit Electronic Filing
By Stephanie Beougher | December 17, 2014
Rule changes to allow for electronic documents to be filed with the Ohio Supreme Court will take effect January 1.
The Supreme Court justices have approved amendments to the Rules of Practice for the e-Filing Portal that include these requirements:
- Documents received after 5 p.m. Eastern Time through the e-Filing Portal will not be considered for filing until the next business day.
- Documents with more than 300 pages must be submitted as multiple PDF documents instead of one large file.
- e-Filing is optional; however, attorneys who choose to file documents through the portal must register and set up an account.
The e-Filing Portal currently is in a pilot phase and is scheduled to be available to all attorneys starting on January 5, 2015.
