Attorneys Asked to Submit Their Pro Bono Activities
More than 40,000 active and corporate registered attorneys will receive an email from the Ohio Supreme Court in early January requesting that they voluntarily report their 2015 pro bono activities.
Ohio attorneys on active and corporate registration status will receive the email with a link directing them to a website where they can report information about their pro bono work. The reporting website will be open from early January through March 31, 2016, and all information submitted will be collected anonymously.
Attorneys are encouraged to begin collecting records of any pro bono work from 2015, including financial contributions to organizations that provide legal services to persons of limited means.
Participating attorneys in 2014 reported more than 81,000 hours of pro bono legal services valued at $10.9 million.
Responses to pro bono reporting are compiled by the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation, which will use the information to improve the delivery of civil legal services to low-income Ohioans. On an annual basis, the foundation compiles and reports the information collected to the Supreme Court, bar associations, and legal aids across Ohio.
