Public Comment Open, Proposed Rule Changes to Attorney Registration
The Supreme Court of Ohio has opened a 45-day period for public comment on proposed amendments to the Rules for the Government of the Bar regarding attorney registration.
The proposed changes would give Ohio attorneys the option to provide information about languages in which they are proficient if they are bilingual or multilingual. The information may be helpful to someone seeking an Ohio attorney who can effectively communicate with the client without the use of a translator. Courts may also find the information useful when looking to appoint attorneys for certain indigent parties, allowing attorney-client communications without the need for a translator. It may also help identify attorneys interested in becoming certified court interpreters.
