More than 800 recent law school graduates passed the July bar exam.

The Supreme Court of Ohio has released results from the July 2024 Ohio Bar Examination.

Among the 909 first-time test takers, 83% received passing scores. A total of 1,075 aspiring lawyers sat for the exam and 801 – or 75% – passed.

Those who meet all requirements will be sworn in at one of two special sessions of the Supreme Court on Nov. 12 at the Palace Theatre in Columbus. The 10:30 a.m. ceremony will feature law school graduates from Ohio State University, Capital University, University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky University. The 2:00 p.m. ceremony will include graduates from Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, University of Toledo, Ohio Northern University, University of Akron, and other out-of-state law schools.

New lawyers and their guests are invited to visit the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center immediately following the ceremony. The Ohio State Bar Association will host a reception in the Moyer Judicial Center’s Grand Concourse.

The bar exam is administered twice a year by the Court, which regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, the biennial registration of current attorneys, attorney discipline in cases of misconduct, and the administration of continuing legal education.
